ANNOUNCEMENTS

It may have been some time since you've visited the Kansas City metro, and believe us, the area has changed in the last 50 years and has lots to offer!  Besides, don't you want to visit the metro area you grew up in and that was a host city of six games, including a match game with Argentina and a quarterfinal, for the 2026 FIFA World Cup? Of course you do!!!

We still have the beautiful Country Club Plaza or Crown Center to shop, walk, or enjoy for a day.  But the Kansas City Metro is now more diverse and accessible.

On the Missouri side, Kansas City offers wonderful areas for enjoyment, from the shopping and dining of the Country Club Plaza, to the artsy vibes of the Crossroads Arts District which includes Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, glimpses of the past near Crown Center including Union Station and the WWI Museum (and in 2031, a new district with Hallmark Cards, and the new home of the Kansas City Royals), historic jazz and the negro leagues at the 18 & Vine District, entertainment and flavorful bites in the Power and Light District, and unique culture in Westport, Brookside, the River Market, and the Berkley River Market area (home to the Kansas City Current, and CPKC Stadium, the first professional women's sports stadium). Each area provides distinct experiences like nightlife, local shops, international cuisine, and outdoor activities.  A bonus in visiting the Missouri side of the metro is the fairly new, and free, KC Streetcar that links directly to many of these areas along with the metro bus system.

On the Kansas side, many new, intimate, market districts with unique shops and quaint restaurant venues abound in some of your favorite Johnson County locations! So pick the city you want to venture into, do some homework, and then join the fun!  AND the Legends Shopping District in KCK is a highlight which includes the Kansas Speedway, Sporting KC's Stadium, Monarch's Baseball, the new American Royal Barns, and FYI, if you didn't know, this will be the new home of the Kansas City Chiefs starting in 2031!

Hopefully, we have whetted your appetitie to "come see what's new" and  "spend some time" in the KC metro.  But if you can only make Shawnee Mission North's Class of 1976 50 Year Reunion, that's fine too!!  Just make sure to be there September 18-19, 2026!

This will probably be our last, greatest opportunity to share fun, laughter, and a toast with old friends!!!!
